Thank you Kitty!

I grew up in a suburb outside of Denver, next to mall and a couple of strip malls. We didn’t travel much. Right before college, my parents moved outside of Chicago. My first trip to the city changed everything for me. For really the first time, I experienced diversity in every way. Unique, locally-owned business. People who didn’t look like me. Neighborhoods with their own distinct character and flavor. And I could get to them by walking or taking public transit. When I moved to the city, I sold my car and didn’t need one for 6 years. What a great way to live.

I see some hope. Denver has been transformed and there has been a big push back to diverse, urban living. I hope this trend continues and it fosters a rise of brave, individual business owners who can fight the spread of sameness you talk about!
